Computerized Direct Radiography

What is Computerized Direct Radiography?
Conventional X-rays depend on film to capture and record the X-ray image. Computerized direct radiography (DR) is a new method whereby the X-ray image is recorded directly on a specially treated "amorphous silicon" plate which is placed next to the body part being viewed. The image is then sent directly to a computer system (ie, no middle steps) where the radiologist interprets the X-ray using high resolution monitors. This process affords higher resolution and a near perfect X-ray exposure every time.

What should I expect after the procedure?
After the X-ray test, you can get dressed and immediately return to normal activity. There are no lingering side effects from direct radiography.
